For Cooking Rice:
Basmati Rice - 1 cup
Water - 1.5 cup

Start by cooking Rice, Wash rice in lots of water, soak it for 30 mins. Drain it and take it in pressure cooker, cover it with 1.5 cup of water and some salt. Cover and cook for 10 mins or untill it is 80% cooked. then drain the water and let it cool completely.

Now take eggs in a bowl, season with some salt and beat well. Heat 1 tblspn of oil in a kadai or wok. Pour the egg mix in and scramble it. Once it is scrambled, remove it to a plate.

New born baby care / Parenting

Hi All,

I keep updating this post as and when my son grows.....

After my post on my experiences of delivery (which is in draft still!!), I would like to write down certain things on baby care which I followed so that it will be least to me during second innings..;)

I was happy to have normal delivery for which I was very friends and colleagues were astonished by the way me being strong and committed to what I want.... soon after my delivery, within few hours, I first breast feed my cute baby boy...I was surprised by the Nature's miracle of having the baby who is just born knows to suck and take milk..nobody has to teach baby...I have been instructed to feed 3 times on first day and later for every 2 to 3 hrs...

Its very important that you feed in alternate breast every time..else it will get clogged...Its very common for breasts to get have to just express it will lasts for two to three weeks..I got medulla mini electric pump which costed me 10000 bucks...i struggled a lot in feeding for first the stitches didn't fall off at got removed manually after many tinctures...

first month is always a hectic you feel very new to your baby.

It took us some time to put out v bought a cradle..we used only cotton clothes for him..even the wrapper was little heat for him..but to hold him tat was more comfortable..then later v stated to use cotton saree to wrap or to hold him..

Doctor asked us to give food supplement drops for three months...we gave perugayam, angur thiratchai as well....masakai, jathikai, garlic, dry ginger, vasumbu all these we used to scratch and get a small amt of paste which we keep in his helps in digestion, for quick talking etc..I'm very grateful for my colleagues who helped me in getting stuffs from herbs shop in Tamil nadu...GOD always opens the door when he closes one...

we started feeding him on bottle at the end of 3 months...we started solid foods at the end of 4th month...we gave him ragi mixed with black jaggery...but Dr advised to start with cerelac. So we gave him apple, banana, then moved on to pomegranate juice (10 to 20 ml) then introduced ...He liked all the flavors...then I moved on to mashed rice....introduced carrot, potato initially...then moved on to sweet potato....then mixed veggies carrot, potato, beans and cabbage...:)

At the start of 5th month, Dr advised for Iron drops morning and evening dose. For diarrhea problems, I gave him wood-wards gripe water... three times a day. for cough and cold, I gave him steam with eucalyptus oil, saline nasal drops, ----------------------------

From the time we started formula milk(fourth month), we have been advised to give some amt of water...when starting solids (5th month) , we gave him min of 100 to 150 ml per day.

I noticed some food allergy rashes while adding palak and pepper powder. I stopped using and gave during 8th month. every baby is unique.

Coconut oil is the best for treating rashes. I applied powder to the diaper area everytime he poo and pee.

From 7th month, I added pomegranate juice 40 to 50 ml while preparing the fruit purees like banana, apple, pear etc.

During 8th month, I gave him curd mixed with rice and dal or with Ragi. We saw his small teeth emerging from the gums during this month only.

I gave gripe water three time daily from 8th month onwards.

I noticed his urine smell to be very acidity so gave him tender coconut 100 mil min alnong with water..

On 10th month, he had dry cough for two days followed by 102F fever...Dr prescibled Calpol and told throat infection being air borne...For dry cough, its best to give hot/warm water every 15 min.

Different combinations of food I tried:

Initially i pureed the rice, then I cooked and mashed with spoon. I Pureed vegggies and mixed with mashed rice. I introduced chicken stock first then chicken breast pieces. I mixed rice, carrot and shredded cooked breast chicken piece. He liked it and slept for 2.5 hrs almost..! :)

I mixed egg yolk with Nestum and spinach. I gave idli with sambar/Dates puree during 9th month.

I used to cook moong dal / sambar dal in advance along with spices and store in refrigerator for use of two times.

He got in diarrhea during 9th month.  We should know the following.

1. Dont use nappies as it irritates them. Use diaper, Dont use wipes, Just use cotton and wash in warm water.

2. Dont give Ragi, ghee/milk products during diarrhea. Give sago and oats combination. Give curd as much as possible. Give ORS water to keep them hydrated.

3. Have medicines in handy. Wait for 3 three days else go to Dr.

4. Give idli, rice kanju, dal a lot during diarrhea.

5. Give the sachet for loose motion...

From 1.5 years, he almost dint suffer any medical issues..thanks mummy for that :) occasionally he get cough and cold...

with medicines and pepper, dry ginger juice, warm water to drink, vicks, hot water bath, he gets well soon in two - four days...

At 25 months, he first got measles like small dots in his back and stomach. Following to do when baby get measles.

1. keep him hydrated with water
2. tender coconut and orange juice daily
 3. apply calamine lotion and neem leaves to his body when itching.
4. dont bath him untill it goes away.
5. dont let him play with other children and allow others to home.
6. keep your hands washed when you touch him
7. no need of Dr if its nto so severe ( many dots, big sizes, too much itching) else it will go away in 5 days time
